Job Summary The individual is responsible for setting grade stakes meant to guide equipment operators on sloping highways and embankments.
In this position, you set these grade stakes using hand tools, measuring instruments, and using specified ratios.
The individual will report to a supervisor on areas worked as directed.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Individual will be performing other assigned duties by supervisor/department head when needed.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
Set and check grade stakes.
Read and interpret grading stakes and marks.
GPS knowledge.
Uses survey equipment to check and stake according to grade specifications.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma Minimum 2 years as a grade checker (mass and fine grading) Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor Ability to follow instructions orally or in written form and perform tasks with little supervision Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers and supervisor Ability to perform work that is routine and detailed Ability to speak and write clearly and accurately Ability to move hands easily and skillfully to handle/operate tools and/or machines to perform required tasks Ability to follow verbal instructions that require individual thought to complete the tasks or a series of tasks Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and policy procedures Job Type:
